CAD Design of a Reinforced 18650 Battery Pack
Lavriv Studio — Reliable Power in a Thoughtful Form
This project focused on the development of a reinforced battery pack designed for 18650 lithium-ion cells, intended for use in portable power tools, flashlights, and other autonomous devices.
The primary emphasis was placed on structural durability, user convenience, and the ability to perform instant charging without a docking station.
Concept & Functional Features
The battery pack was designed as a versatile power solution capable of withstanding mechanical loads, vibrations, and intensive daily use.
The design enables direct connection to a charger, significantly increasing mobility and reducing equipment downtime.
CAD Design Process
1. Housing & Structural Geometry
The enclosure was modeled with enhanced rigidity in mind:
– reinforced walls,
– integrated structural ribs,
– optimized transitions and fillets to minimize stress concentration.
2. Parametric 3D Modeling
The model was created using a parametric approach, allowing easy adaptation for different 18650 cell configurations or dimensional changes based on specific application requirements.
3. Electrical Contacts & Locking Mechanism Integration
Dedicated mounting features were designed for contact terminals, locking elements, and guiding rails to ensure:
– reliable electrical connection,
– protection against incorrect insertion,
– quick and secure installation and removal.
4. Manufacturing Preparation
The design was optimized for 3D printing and scalable manufacturing, with careful control of tolerances, wall thicknesses, and functional clearances.
Final models were prepared for export into production-ready formats.
Result
The final outcome is a robust, functional, and universal battery pack ready for integration into a wide range of devices — from power tools to lighting systems.
